Work on the scheme originally began in 2004 as a strategic housing allocation through Daventry’s emerging Local Development Framework. In 2007 a planning application was submitted and following the issuing of an Article 14 Direction by the Highways Agency an appeal was lodged. The Secretary of State agreed that the strategic release of the site and the contributions that were negotiated were appropriate in the context of the Regional Spatial Strategy and the severely limited housing land supply that existed locally.

Permission was granted in April 2010 following an intensive period of negotiations with the District and County Councils to draw the legal agreement to a close and avoid recourse to Public Inquiry. KLW looks forward to working on the detail to bring the scheme to fruition to deliver much needed housing, community and recreation facilities on this important central site in Burgess Hill.
